Spalted Rainbow Poplar Coffin Bottle Opener

Rainbow poplar is not a separate species of wood; rather, it comes from a poplar tree that has absorbed various minerals throughout the tree’s life. This results in an incredible range of colors, from purples and greens to red, brown, and yellow, each of which is completely unique from piece to piece. As if that wasn’t unique enough, these pieces also feature spalting! Spalting is caused by a certain fungus consuming the wood after it is cut, and the striking black lines in the wood grain are the result.

This piece features a stainless steel bottle opener insert with a bronze finish, to accentuate the golden tones of the poplar.
