Double pocket card
By Yvonne | July 24, 2008
I am having a class tomorrow making these double pocket cards and I wanted to use really bold colours that are out of my comfort zone. I love this designer paper called ’spring break’ it is great for all sorts of cards, especially masculine and teenage. I still have a couple fo spots spare, so if you are interested in coming along, or if you owuld love to complete this card at home, please contact me so I can prepare you a kit! The first card is the open card version and the second is the closed one.
Stamps: frames with a flourish, occasional greetings, baroque motifs, sweet sampler, warm words (sentiment on the second card)
Inks: pumpkin pie, blue bayou,
Card: spring break designer paper, whisper white, soft sky, pumpkin pie
Accessories: blue bayou ribbon, earth elements buttons, horizontal slit punch, mat pack, paper piercing tool, white gel pen (for faux stitching)
I printed off the instructions from splitcoast stampers and attempted to create these cards, but for the life of me, I could not get them to work. I looked at the picture and then the instructions and nothing was happening as it should. I was at the point where I could not make any sense out of anything- I had just finished a late evening shift and was dead tired for a start - so I put everything away and went to bed. The next morning, I tackled it again and I felt like such a goose - of course nothing had made sense - instead of reading the instructions that went with the picture I was using as a guide, I was looking at the picture below - which was in fact the next step - confused yet? I was having a realy brain dead moment I tell you! If you would like to have a go recreating these cards then just click here.

Blog awards
By Yvonne | July 24, 2008
It has been a busy few days here in the Campbell household and trying to find that bit of time to post some creations has been a little difficult, but I have settled little miss in front of the Lion King so hopefully will have at least half an hour before she gets bored lol! Firstly, I wanted to share with you all the lovely bloggers who have been giving blog awards to me -I am going to pass on these awards to people who I don’t think have recieved these awards yet! I was given the Art deco award by Michelle, Carol and Alana . The rules are:

1. You pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone. Remember to leave the person a comment or email to let them know they received the award.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and the link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4. The award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
Now to choose five blogs that are ‘Wow. The Best Art’
So here are my picks: Sharon Diane Gillian Cat and Gabbie . Because I only have about 5 minutes left of peace as little miss is getting very restless, I will also give those same girls the following award too!
It is the brilliant blog award which was given to me by Amy, Makeesha, Sankari and Madonna!
The rules that accompany this award are:
1) Put the logo on your blog.
2) Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs. (oops, 5 in this case sorry!)
4) Add links to those blogs on yours.
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.
And then, my card was chosen by Susanna as one of her cards of the week, which was lovely. Click on the blurb to go to Susanna’s site!

marvellous marker tutorial
By Yvonne | July 19, 2008
I have just posted up a tutorial on the aussiescrapbooking site, you can see it in full here
Here is a little sneak peak of the projects made for the tutorial, I just love colouring with markers so I hope this will give you a couple of tips!
The layout and card are made using the new ‘true friend’ set found in the stampin’ Up! spring mini catalogue, out on August 1st. Colours are real red, old olive for the layout, and real red and always artichoke for the card. Better go and tell Madonna that she is starring in my layout lol!!

Colour challenge #16
By Yvonne | July 18, 2008
Another gorgeous challenge from Kristina! I wanted to recreate not only the colours, but also the look of the square pillow with the scalloped edge- I really wished I had a shoe stamp when I was making this card- I just loved this photo. So here is Kristina’s inspiration
All supplies by Stampin’ Up!
Stamps: Enjoy every moment (new), spring solitude
inks: certainly celery, pumpkin pie, soft sky
Cardstock: very vanilla, certainly celery, pumpkin pie, soft sky
Accessories: crimper (I ran the flowers through it), 1/2″ circle punch, vanilla taffeta ribbon, slit punch (for creating the scallops), dimensional adhesives.
This was a really simple card, the only time consuming part was creating the scallops!
This is another great card by Cheryl Joshua for the challenge using the ‘garden whimsy’ stamp set. If you would like me to pop your card up here for the challenge, just email them to me!

happy birthday Martin!
By Yvonne | July 18, 2008
I am a day late here, but our server was down yesterday so I couldn’t get on the blog to wish Martin (otherwise known as DH) a BIG happy 39th birthday!! 39 is such a big year, the last year of saying you are 30 something and of facing your 40’s. I remember going to my first 30th birthday when I was only 22, and thinking ‘man, how OLD is that!’ Now 30 is young to me and 40 is too, I guess as we approach a milestone age, our perceptions change as we realise that we are still the same person, that we haven’t suddenly aged a decade overnight. Saying that, I am still glad it is not me turing 39 just yet lol!! ANYWAY.. here is the card I made for Martin, I am loving the new satin ribbon from the mini catalogue - yummo!
Stamps: frames with a flourish, forever in my heart, It’s your birthday
Inks: chocolate chip, white craft, certainly celery, ruby red
Card: chocolate chip, certainly celery, ruby red, whisper white
Accessories: white embossing powder, stamp-a-ma-jig, heat gun, chosolate satin ribbon (new), crimper, dimensional adhesives, cutter kit.
I am not sure if you will be able to see, but I inked up the heart in white craft ink, applied white embossing powder and heat set it. I did the same with the flourishes - I used the SAMJ to position them though. The edges of the white and celery card I distressed with the cutter kit. This satin ribbon is so beautiful to work with, I am not sure if it is because it is so smooth, but you can make the loveliest bows and ties with it.
I have spent all day cutting up card with 2 of the nicest friends in preparation for this weekends ‘Christmas in July’ - well we did do lots of cutting, but I think there was more laughing, chatting and eating left over birthday cake than anything lol! So thanks Sue and Gabbie for a great day! Off to get some very tired and cranky kids to bed and then if I get a chance, I will post the card I created for Kristina’s newest challenge!

Ticket corner tutorial
By Yvonne | July 15, 2008
I have received a few emails asking me how to create ticket corners so that they are nice an even in shape, even if you don’t have ticket corner punch (which I don’t). As it is really simple to do, I thought I would show you how!
I find either the 1″ or the 1 1/4″ cirlce punch give the nicest corners. Here I am using the 1″ circle punch, if you want a ticket corner that has a more shallow cut, use the 1 1/4″ punch
Place the corner of your card into the circle punch, so that the both edges of the card are about even in the hole. It is better to punch out a smaller area - you can always make your cut deeper if you are not happy with the shape of the cut, but if you take it too deep, then you can’t do anything about it.
Take the corner that you punched out and apply a bit of 2 way glue pen on the offcut from the first corner punch, if you dont have a 2 way glue, use some other adhesive that will tempararily hold the piece in place.
Adhere the off cut to your next corner and then use it as a guide so that your next corner will be identical to original one.
so here I am using the offcut as my template, so the punch sits just on the edge of it.
THe corners are all punched out evenly and I have matted it on some cardstock that is bigger than what I want. The reason it is bigger, is that I am going to use the corners of the image as a guide to create ticket corners on the mat. The cuts will be deeper than you want and you will need to trim the mat to get a nicer finish.
I placed the circle punch over the original cut then moved it back a few millimetres to get a corner. You can see how much excess card I trimmed off this mat from the previous photo.
I then matted it again, and used the same technique to create another ticket corner on this piece of card.

pick a petal stamp-a-stack
By Yvonne | July 7, 2008
Phew! That is a mouthful for a title isn’t it! When I first saw this set, I just could not make up my mind about it - but then this gorgeous card in choc chip and pumpkin pie, by Makeesha convinced me that I really did need it! (thanks Keesh!)
It has been however, one of those sets that I hadn’t inked since I had mounted it, so decided to ink use it for these cards. So here are the three cards that I made up as examples for my last stamp-a-stack, the theme was simply ‘flowers and swirls’. (the swirl cards I will post another day)
All items by Stampin’ Up! except for my little green cuttlebug!
Stamps: pick a petal, It’s your birthday, short & sweet
Inks: pale plum, perfect plum, apricot appeal
Cardstock: pale plum, perfect plum, apricot appeal, whisper white
Accessories: small and large oval punches, white grosgrain ribbon, dimensional adhesives.
These petals were stamped individually on some scrap card, cut out, then layered over each other.
The easiest way to stamp these petals I found were to stamp the pale petals first - I stamped them 4 times, spacing them out and then filled in the spaces with the darker plum ink. It doesn’t matter if they don’t meet properly in the middle, as you cover them up with a flower centre anyway. Great cards to have on hand for those birthdays that seem to pop up!

mummy! I NEED to stamp!
By Yvonne | July 6, 2008
This is the newest saying of my little Isabelle who is 2 years and 5 months old. Like mother like daughter I guess, poor Dh just shakes his head in disbelief- there is no “can I stamp’ or even “I would like to stamp’, no, just like her mum, stamping is a need lol!!! Not only that, but when she stamps, she has to put my Stampin’ up apron on! Hmm, something is wrong with these pictures - I didn;t mean to make them thumbnails, you will have to click on them to enlarge them, my apologies
Note the concentration on her dimpled face? But she is not the only one who has done some stamping this week. In the last 6 days, I have had 2 workshops, I stamp-a-stack, one crop night and somehow fitted in 2 nursing shifts as well!
I also was lucky enough to receive this gorgeous card from Angela Sargeant during the week.
I also received this beautful swap from Ngaire Anderson who happens to be Australia’s top stampin’ Up! demonstrator - Ngaire is getting a blog soon, so we can all be inspired by her beautiful creations.
I have also had my crayon resist technique cards published in issue 68 of Creative paper which was nice to see! It does direct you to their website to see the full instructions however.
I was going to post pictures of my last stamp-a-stack cards but I have to get my children to bed, so that will have to wait until tomorrow. Have a lovely Sunday night!
