petal pizzaz
By Yvonne | June 22, 2009
I was lucky enough to receive the gorgeous stamp set Petal Pizzaz at our Stampin’ Up convention and have to say I have been having a ball with it. I used it at a stamp-a-stack I held recently and these are the cards we made.

Stamps: Petal pizzaz, on your birthday
Inks: riding hood red, pirouette pink, kiwi kiss, tangerine tango
card: riding hood red, kiwi kiss, very vanilla, riding hood red DSP.
Accessories: Kiwi kiss grosgrain ribbon, vintage brads, dimensional adhesives, eyelet border punch.
I think there are some sets that you can’t really make a bad card with and this is one of them, you can just stamp away randomly and your card will look bright, bold and pretty! It is also a great set to do layering with, as you can see in the first card, the flowers all fit nicely over each other.
It is nice and quiet at home tonight, the boys are away with my mum and sister, they have gone to Mount Hotham for a few days where my uncle runs a ski resort. It is their first time at the snow and they have been so excited about this trip and the fact that they are going to learn to ski and snowboard hopefully. But what it means for me is beautiful, blissful QUIET which is such a rarity in my house - how lucky am I lol!!!

water coloured roses
By Yvonne | June 17, 2009
I was thinking of what to share with you today and then I remembered that I had not yet shown you my watercoloured roses! I know this technique has been all over the internet over the past few weeks and it seriously is the simplest watercolouring you will ever do! I actually ran a class on it a couple of weeks ago and the card below is what we made, it was a definite hit!
To see a step by step tutorial on this watercolouring technique, see HERE. This technique started in the US but using shimmer paper which we don’t have here in Australia, so I have been using our Stampin’ Up watercolouring paper which looks fantastic.’The tutorial for the side step card can be found HERE The card size however is a bit too big for our envelopes so all I did was cut the size of the card down a little and keep the other measurements the same. I cut the card to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/4″
My card was inspired by one made by another Australian Demonstrator, Andrea . The set used is the gorgeous Fifth Avenue set, embossed with white embossing powder, then watercoloured with reinkers and lots of water. Here is a close up of the roses:

And then I used the flower in this set and watercoloured them to create this card:
Hmm, I thought I took this photo a bit closer so sorry it is so small, not sure what happened! I ran the vanilla card through the cuttlebug with the leaf folder (not sure of its real name) I then sponged some of the pumpkin pie ink over it. I stamped the grass image from the Inspired by Nature stamp set on the background of the card as well.
I have heaps of the roses just lying about waiting for me to be inspired and create something around them, they are just so fun to make! If you have not tried watercolouring paper, you have to give it a go, but please make sure it is of good quality, I have tried all sorts, brands and thickness and have to say the Stampin up one wins hands down!’

Trendy Trees
By Yvonne | June 15, 2009
I have just had the nicest weekend, I spent Saturday with some of my stampin’ friends - thanks Kristy for letting us all visit and play - and then Sunday was spent with school friends while our multitude of children (well it seemed that way as there were 11 kids there) ran amuck! Anyway, I thought I would share with you one of the cards we did as part of my last stamp-a-stack, using Trendy Trees.

You really need a stamp-a-ma-jig with this set to make the tree’s line up properly. I covered the tree’s with crystal effects and I love the shiny look!
All supplies by Stampin’Up:
Inks: chocolate chip, old olive, certainly celery
Stamps: Trendy Trees, boho background
Card: baja breeze, very vanilla, baja breeze DSP, old olive
Accessories: baja breeze grosgrain ribbon, word window punch, SAMJ, large oval punch, scallop edge punch, SAMJ. I love the summery look of these cards, I go through so much of baja breeze paper, I think it is the perfect colour to co-ordinate with so many colours.
I have just booked some flights for DH and I to Sydney as it is his 40th birthday next month (boy has that time gone fast) and I am so excited - the kids are staying behind with their grandparents so we will have 3 days of quiet woo hoo!! And then 2 weeks later I have organised a Demonstrator Stamp Camp - how great is that! 3 days of stamping, laughing and eating with like minded creative people- hmmm, not sure which weekend I am looking forward to more LOL!!!!!

circle circus and flower fancy!
By Yvonne | June 9, 2009
Well we have just had a lovely long weekend here and it was nice to recharge the batteries a little! I spent one of the days wth my team and the other days creating! But instead of paper all over the desk and floor, I have scraps of fabric and cotton everywhere! I finally decided to start the fairy bed quilt I had planned for Little miss and I had forgotten how much I loved to quilt. The last time I had picked up my needle and thread for fun was the day that I was introduced to Stampin’ Up in December 2006 - isn’t that terrible? But I am so excited at how much I completed over the past 2 days, everything is cut and the applique is done, now I just need to blanket stitch them all in my spare time (cough cough) Oh well I can see some late nights in the future!
I can finally upload to my blog yay! It has only taken 4 days but we are back! So I thought I would show you the cards that I made at my stamp-a-stack the other week using Circle Circus which we received at our Convention last month. I have to say I was really undecided about this set, but after actually playing with it, I just love it!

It is great for both masculine and feminine cards and would be great for backgrounds on scrap layouts as well.
Stamps: Circle circus, think happy thoughts
Card: pacific point, kiwi kiss, whisper white, riding hood red
Inks: pacific point, kiwi kiss, whisper white craft, riding hood red
Accessories: Kiwi kiss satin ribbon, scallop circle punch,1 3/8″, 1 1/4 “, 3/4″and scallop circle punches, dimensional adhesives.
The other card we were making for the stamp a stack was in pinks but I had some left over card so I recreated the same card in the pinks.
So just as suitable for boys and girls! Here is the second SAS card using the Flower Fancy set.

StampsFlower Fancy, Best Yet
Card: Old olive, regal rose, rose red, whisper white,
Inks: Old olive, regal rose, rose red
Accessories: eyelet border punch, wide oval punch, large oval punch, designer label punch, dimensional adhesives, stamp-a-ma-jig, crimper.
Of course whenever I am preparing for a class, I have my little helper with me and I just have to show you a photo of her being busy creating her card!

Can you see how she used my card’s layout as a guide when she recreated her card, I thought she was pretty clever, the only thing I helped her with was folding the card!

Retro fresh!
By Yvonne | June 5, 2009
Whenever I do a workshop, I always chat a bit about how I got into stamping, (thanks Gabbie!) how I was a scrapbooker who always thought that stamping meant using black ink and an outline image - boy how wrong was I. More importantly, I also mention how therapeutic stamping, specifically watercoloring, is for me. Well I have to say I have done a heap of stamping of late, as has little miss! She is not only punching out shapes and watercolouring but crimping and using my snail adhesive like an expert! I am still have trouble with my blog, I want to show you the most gorgeous photo’s of isabelle stamping and her card that she made all by herself using her favourite stamp - Magnolia’s Tilda, but you will have to wait. Instead, I will share with you the pics that I was able to upload. These are cards we did at workshops last month and are from the Retro Fresh range.

We received Trendy Trees as a gift at convention and I think it is the cutest set! This is a great set to demonstrate how to use the stamp-a-ma-jig too.
All supplies by Stampin’Up:
Inks: really rust, old olive, pumpkin pie, chocolate chip,
Stamps: Trendy Trees
Card: riding hood red, whisper white, washington apple DSP
Accessories: Mat pack, paper piercer, pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon, word window punch, SAMJ
The next set was one I had to have when I first saw it but I actually hadn’t inked it up until we made these cards at a class. It uses the Good Friend set.

All supplies by Stampin’Up:
Inks: ruby red, summer sun, pacific point, close to cocoa, versamark
Stamps: good friend, cheep talk
Card: kiwi kiss, whisper white, Goodmorning sunshine DSP
Accessories: scallop edge punch, kiwi kiss ribbon
Hmm, I can’t seem to be able to upload any more, so let’s hope the hosting people will fix this for me so I can get more pics up for you soon!

thank you and some creations too..
By Yvonne | June 1, 2009
Thank you everyone for you lovely comments, emails and cards, I was really touched by everyone’s thoughts and prayers. Things are settling down at home, although there is a hole in our lives that our wonderful Dan used to fill: sadly it only took 5 months for Motor Neuron disease to take him away from us. To know someone of such integrity and character is a true priviledge and I feel blessed to have been a part of his family. If you would like to see a tribute I put together you can view it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1lxPWnUPrA
Anyway, life moves us forward and it has done that with gusto! I have a lot of things to catch up on and creations to post but thought I would start with a layout I created a couple of weeks ago.

There is actually no stamping on this layout, it uses the gorgeous Urban Oasis Designer paper - these 2 new incolors Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze are my 2 new favourite colours! I created a tag for my journalling and slipped it behind the photo. Of course I just had to create some matching cards! The Basic gray card is the perfect partner for these colours I think and can you tell that I love the new eyelet punch?

I had better go and upload all those other cards that I have made so I can share them with you. Thank you for your patience with my lack of blogging of late, I will be back with more soon!

missing but not gone!
By Yvonne | May 24, 2009
I wish I could say that I have been missing in action for any other reason except this one, but we are going through a very sad period in our family, and I just haven’t been able to bring myself over to my blog and talk about stamps when we have so much happening. I promise, I do have things to share with you, and hopefully in the next couple of days I will get around to opening my photoshop and editing all those photo’s. Hope you can be patient with me for a little bit longer, I so appreciate your vists to my blog, as I would not keep it going if it wasn’t for my wonderful readers, so thank you xx
