Melbourne Regionals 2008!
By Yvonne | November 9, 2008
Phew!! What a weekend, what a week in fact! There was no rest this week, there was so much to get organised for a super busy weekend. The fact that I was presenting at Regionals was SO daunting, mainly because I was asked to talk about a business tip that I thought everyone would find not only intersting but useful to their business. So I thought I would talk about the value of incorporating classes into your business, of how classes can be such a wonderful part of Stampin up. (Have you checked out my latest class list?) I started feeling sick driving up there, but once that microphone was in my hand, my natural desire to TALK just took over lol! I had been scheduled 5 minutes but I think I went well over that and I still had more to say about Stamp clubs but unfortunately had no time left! Thank you to all the demonstrators who came up to me afterwards and said that they enjoyed my little talk, it was great! I came in early with Robyn as I was to help sign all the demonstrators in and honestly, I didn’t hink we would get there in time – you should have seen us trying to park the car, the car park spaces in the complex had all these ‘reserved’ signs everywhere or else they had ‘reserved for POLICE’ signs, there was not one carspot anywhere, we drove around and around, finally made our way back down the 3 levels only to be told by the carpark attended we were able to park in any reserved spot on level three AHHH!! So back up 3 levels we go, almost get hit by a crazy car reversing back into me and finally find a spot, boy what a start lol! Once I got to the event, it was great! It was so nice to put faces to names or recognise someone by their blog photo! Anyway, I am sure you would like to see some photo’s, I haven’t taken any of the swaps I received, but will try and get them done tomorrow. As for the make and takes I only made one I think, too busy talking but I will try and create them and put them up for you as well.
These are the notepads I decorated for all my team members who came along to Regionals. They were so fun and easy to make, the only thing I mucked up was that I didn’t have a good look at the spiral before I bought them, if I had, I would have realised that our sprial punch would not fit around it, I was forced to cut the DSP straight across instead but I think they turned out really cute! I used the Summer Picnic designer paper (boy am I going to miss this paper once it goes in a couple fo weeks time) and the Blooms diecuts.
These are the swaps I made for everyone. I used the set Ocean Commotion, which we got on the Incentive Trip a couple of months ago now and I coloured the fish in with my markers. THe seaweed was stamped in soft sky twice and once in versamark, heat and stick powder was applied, heated and finally finished off with dazzling diamonds. THe swirly wheel was used at the bottom and finished with the gel pen. 3 different circle punches were used to make the bubbles.
Here is a close up so you can see the bling!
Here is the members of my team who came along to Regionals, what a great turnout, thanks girls for coming along!!
My upline, who left Stampin Up not long after I joined and is now busy making gorgeous candles, had an upline called Jenni and she is my ‘grandma’ upline lol! Here is a group of all of her downlines, including me, that came along on the day. What a collection of talented stampers!!
And here I am with the very talented and wonderful Kerri (who I am going on a retreat with in a couple of weeks and I just can’t wait!!!)
If you are a demonstrator and have never been to a Stampin up event, book in to the next one, not only are they inspiring, but it is so great to be surrounded by people who have the same passion and love of papercraft! After the event, I drove home, picked up a birthday cake, then stopped at the shops to get some snacky type foods and prepared for DS7’s birthday that evening. The poor thing, I felt so guilty that morning, leaving him on his birthday, but I left the world’s number one Star Wars Addict with a brand new Complete boxed set of the Star wars movies – he has been addicted since he could hold a light saber at around 1 year old! He was so gobsmacked he said to me ‘mum, I am going to sit here and watch every one of these movies today’ So I knew he wouldn’t miss me too much! We had a sleep over that night with his closest friends and today he had a party at the local sports centre. Needless to say, I am exhausted, I only finished his birthday card this afternoon, but oh my goodness, was I rapt with it! Unless you are a fan of star wars, you probably won’t appreciate it, but I paper pieced Darth Vader from scratch and made him into a card.
I embossed it in clear EP so it was all shiny and he loved it! I actually scanned the sheet of shapes, so if anyone would like it, let me know. As I took photo’s along the way, I will show you step by step how it was made tomorrow.
Anyway, have a heap of emails to get back to but bed is calling, so if you are waiting to hear from me, I will get there tomorrow I promise! xx

If you need to cover spiral bound notebooks in the future you can just use your 1/16″ punch and cut a slit with paper snips, it is more work but will do the trick in a pinch

Hi Yvonne, I saw you on Sat. and had fun being my first regional. I would love the instructions for Darth Vader. I have a science fiction husband turning “50″ next year and he would love it as much as your boy. I too also snip the spiral section on my notes pads, looks great.
Have a great week, Marls:-)

OMG, Darth Vadar is awesome. You are just way too tricky. Can I please, please, please have the details for this, a great friend of mine in a HUGE Star Wars fan and it is his birthday this week. He would get such a kick out of this card. He is turning 31, so am sure a card you made for a 7 year old is appropriate huh?
It was great seeing you on Saturday, I had soooo much fun. I dont know how you hosted a sleepover followed by a birthday on Sunday, I was a mess on Saturday night, lol!

Yvonne, your presentation on Saturday was FABULOUS! I went home Very Inspired, as did the other girls at my table. I’m so glad you didn’t stop at ‘5 Minutes’!
Thanks so much for reminding us of the excellent SU! resources that are available, and illustrating the importance of our workshops and classes.
